I learned the basics to crocheting at a very young age. Everything after that has been self taught. It is one of my favorite things to do. On any given evening I can often be found sitting in my spot on the sofa next to my husband and youngest son working on something.

My newest project are these wonderfully cute Amigurumi Octopus.

In the last week I’ve made more than a dozen in a few different sizes. The first few going to my children, and my niece, as many of the things I make do. I’m working to build up stock of these. The Holidays soon will arrive. And these make the perfect stocking stuffers. Building stock will also allow me to ship fast and have time for the custom color requests I’m sure will come.

I have become skilled enough to free hand crochet these (free hand crochet means not counting stiches), because of this and just the overall handmade nature no two will ever be exactly the same.

I have chosen to call them “Peewee the pint size Octopus & Friends”.

This is Peewee!

Peewee of course was the first I made, and I have claimed him as my own. Though I’ve made a few more just like him. I’m even running a “Like & Share” giveaway for him on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/jerseygypsypeddler/

Quick go enter! Its open to everyone till August 1st, just follow the 3 steps in the pinned post at the top of our page.

Or Shop our Etsy Store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JerseyGypsyEtsyShop

I have it in my mind to possibly write a set of short stories for Peewee (Early Emergent Readers), asking my Mom to illustrate for me. To which she has agreed, this feeds my inspiration.

Flower Child Style

Call it what you will, Hippie, Gypsy, Bohemian, even Trendy,  but the simplicity of stacking charm bangles fully embraces a timeless fashion style. One I absolutely love. What I don’t love is wearing the same thing everyone else has. The generic sayings charms that everyone can find at the mall. And the new charms we just got in, freshly laser etched and added to our Stainless Steel adjustable bangles, paired with complementing accent charms are not going to be found in any mall, anywhere.

There are so many more in our Etsy shop, and we just opened a 2nd shop on Artfire our “Showcase Bangle Shop”.

Be sure to “Like and Follow” our Facebook page and Twitter account for coupon codes and giveaways.

Springing into something new

I have always had a love for candles. Who doesn’t?

And I have, for some time now, wanted to offer them in my Etsy store. I had hopes last year when I began to work with a candle maker and sell in her shop in Smithville that I could finally expand to carry them. But as things sometimes do it didn’t work out.

But, now…. Now, I have taken a workshop and researched and read and watched and learned all I can to begin this venture on my own. I’m giddy with excitement as the first few I’ve done came out flawlessly. Friends and family bought up nearly all I had in my first round.

( I have, of course, made dozens of candles in mason jars as well)

50 pounds of soy wax at my doorstep (I do believe the UPS guy fully dislikes me now),

along with the 8oz tins, and cotton wicks I’ve choose to use (shipping with these seems like the best 1st step).

I hope to reach and begin to work with brides and create these as favors for their weddings, bridesmaids for showers, and so to be mommies baby showers. I have packages outlined on my Facebook page already as I have had several messages about candles as favors and will be getting samples and package prices listed on Etsy asap. These are truly the perfect thing every bit of it is customizable from the color and scent to label and saying on it. Such a fun process to work with someone and create something that is just them.

The possibility is endless with these and I just love the work, birthdays, and anniversaries, teacher gifts, and Mother days, house warming, or just a quik lil thank you to that someone who is always there for you candles are always a perfect choice.

But even if you just want a great candle for your home or need a great gift at a great price, we can create a label just for you and any scent (just about) you can think of we can do as well as color.

Its begining to look a lot like Christmas

I love Christmas.

I love the decorations, the lights, the music.

I can be found listening and singing along to Time Life’s Treasury of Christmas, older classics. I hate the new mixes of these songs.

I love the warm glow of the tree lit in the corner of my living room. I love the bright glow of the 10 foot tall tree I put up in my entryway and how it reach’s the 2nd floor, and how as you go up the stairs they wrap around the tree. My house smells of apple cinnamon.

The light are hung up around the gutters around my porch, as a smiling snowman greets you, and the wreath I just made hangs happily on the front door.

I spent the weekend making soap sets as gifts as well!

Handmade cotton shower puffs and handmade and mold Peppermint goats milk candy cane topped soaps!

and as I wait for Christmas Eve and 24hrs of A Christmas story to begin, I have packed my etsy shop  https://www.etsy.com/shop/JerseyGypsyEtsyShop?ref=hdr_shop_men ,as full as I can and am getting ready for a giveaway on my Facebook page!

This giveaway will start tomorrow on my facebook page and run through Christmas Eve, in hopes of bringing a White Christmas!

Here’s What’s Kraken

You either are a fan of the Kraken or you’re not.

I happen to be a fan. In every form, from a framed poster in my studio, to the jealously I have for my best friends ring ( a Kraken hold a huge pearl!)

I find the mystery and fork lure appealing. The art, flare, and over all variety, this “theme” has.

I know I’m not alone in this.

So in preparation for the holiday’s Ive added some new Kraken Cameo Cuff Bracelets.

I took my time with choosing just the right settings for these handmade cameos, and I couldn’t be happier.

and of course a Gift Box!

Its a Wash

Jersey Summers.

You never know what you’re going to get.

Not technically summer yet till tomorrow.

Today June 20th 2015. Gloomy and Gross.

This weekend will be “A Wash”.

There will be no going out to the lake, or BBQ’s, or canoeing, or even yard work.

The threat of rain at any moment makes all that un-doable.

For me there is always tons to do.

I am after all the end all, be all of this household.

The Queen and Keeper. The Warden and Prisoner.

I am Mom. I am Wife.

But I am also the creator, designer, and owner of my own small business. To which I am the only employee.

And I have a few orders to fill.

Today its Hostess Gift Sets. Handmade Soaps and

my handmade 100% US grown cotton shower/bath puffs. Lovingly crocheted by me.

Part taught to crochet by my grandmother and grandfather and part self taught.

These take me about an hour and half, if I’m left uninterrupted.

Always starting out the same. A pile of yarn, I pray doesn’t knot up on me.

Soon a beautiful, full, soft shower puff.

And finally packaged with the soap.
