Fun, Fabulous Fringe

I love fringe. Its pretty much an obsession of mine. I have always gravitated toward it. In the mall, I see it and I must touch. I must let it run over the side on my hand cascading down, each little twisted string elegant and fun.

I have made it my recent mission to find a way to use fringe in my everyday life. And this morning I finally finished the design for a new clutch “The Remy”. This simple design, paired with the edgy fabric and the fun-ness of fringe has me completely giddy!

All of my bags are designed around “Simplicity & Function”. The key to a great bag, to me, is that you can use it to go to work, the store, and  than straight out that evening. But I don’t want a boring bag, I want a statement piece. A bag that shows my fun side, without over doing it. We are all, after all, each unique. And why should our bag be any different.

The approx. size of “The Remy” is about 10 inches, by about 6 inches (give or take a tad). Fairly standard for a clutch. But what isn’t standard are the prints, the wrist strap that attaches right to the zipper pull, and of course the fringe itself. My only challenge here was deciding if I wanted the fringe to trim the sides of the bag or the bottom. I love both looks. I also found myself stuck between a rock and a hard place on what type of fringe to use, as well  as the length. I love the delicate little nylon twists on things such as flapper dressers, But in all practicality those little twists tend to pull out, and this does not do well for the life of a bag after all, who wants a raggedy looking bag?! Not me that’s for sure. So I bought a 6 inch faux suede fringe I think it has the best look with the boldness of the fabric prints. At 6 inch’s you get go flow and movement without getting into everything and knotting up. And,  I am going to go with bottom trimming on these (but will offer side trim on request). I just like the look of the fringe hanging and moving on the bottom of the bag as it hangs from the wrist. Its a bold yet simple touch, and as I said earlier I like simple.

The customizations for this bag are stacking up as the day has gone on, I’ve written down dozens of ideas. For Example: Not everyone wants a bold edgy print. The best part of my job and having my own hand made boutique is being able to make a one of a kind piece for someone. I get requests for them all the time. Whether you’re a My Little Pony kinda girl and want that print with purple fringe or you want pink floral and a matching fringe, or maybe you want a lace covered beauty for your wedding day. I can so do that.

This bag is a must have.

Flower Child Style

Call it what you will, Hippie, Gypsy, Bohemian, even Trendy,  but the simplicity of stacking charm bangles fully embraces a timeless fashion style. One I absolutely love. What I don’t love is wearing the same thing everyone else has. The generic sayings charms that everyone can find at the mall. And the new charms we just got in, freshly laser etched and added to our Stainless Steel adjustable bangles, paired with complementing accent charms are not going to be found in any mall, anywhere.

When I think of Best Friends Woody & Buzz always come to mind.

“You’ve Got A Friend In Me”

And with my new goals of creating exclusive charms, laser cut, not stamped, high quality stainless steel charms. Something no one else will carry. this was my first thought.

A best friend set.

Here is the story board for what we have set out to make. In by the end of the month, made in small amounts.

12631463_906495396138719_3651402883514739957_n

This $40.00 set, will include two stainless steel bangles, each with the exclusive “You’ve got a friend in me” charm and the above pictured cowboy hat on one and the spaceship on the other. They will each come in their own gift box, and as always custom labeling is available at no extra cost or we design a standard label to adorn the box.

I was so excited about this I have released it for pre-order, which always comes with free shipping. You can contact us on our Facebook page or inbox us through our etsy shop to reserve yours. I don’t see this lasting long once its in and to keep with the uniqueness this will not be mass produced.

Another Favorite Project

Okay now I’m going to just gush about these…

Bangles. Sliding Adjustable Bangles. Stacking. Collecting Charm BANGLES!

Making these is my absolute favorite job. Picking the charms out that go together, that compliment each other. Designing some of the charms I have in my shop even. Shopping and creating as a job, nothing is better than that!

But, well, I have a problem. I keep a ton. I put together collections I like, phrases, and symbols, and well I cant resist keeping tons for myself.  Luckily, there’s a ton of other people who seem to like them as well since they fly out of my etsy shop.

This here is my collection (most of it).

And yes I wear them all at once sometimes.

This here’s a picture of me my when I adore them all.

702850_10208574849112472_17586364_n

I love the jingle they make when they’re all on, and I have a lil thing for stainless steel, can ya tell?

Even my wedding band is stainless steel. This love I can not even explain. I want to say its the simplicity, durability, and the color mostly.

Each charm, states something of me, I wear them for me. But you could genuinely read them and know a lot about me. That right there is what style is, isn’t it?  The statements of you.

All of it is in my etsy store.

Wanderlust

So often when I talk of the places I want to see, to travel to. People always ask “why?”

Why there? I can never answer to their satisfaction.

How do you describe a feeling, a longing, a need?

Maybe their question is stemmed more from my choice of places?

Salem, Massachusetts

Niagara Falls

Deadwood South Dakota

Mount Rushmore National Park

New Mexico

and my number one place, top of my list, a bucket list must…

Redwood National Forest CA.

Now of course this is merely just a few of the places I wish to travel to.

I guess it seems a bit odd, rather random. And why not Pairs or Italy, like so many other people speak of wanting to see.

Again, I cant explain. Perhaps, I wish to travel, yet stay close to home. Or that I feel there is no need to go so far away when there’s so much here to see (same difference really right?). I guess any number of reasons could be given for “why”.

But…I wish to travel to these places by car, towing a small camper. A camper that I was able to get for next to nothing and took years resorting. And to stop and see all I can see along the way. I want to take my time, and stop often. I want for it to be a journey and not a trip.

Now I sit and wait for my other wanderlust charms to arrive, an old tin can camper, a take joy in the journey, a “camping” sign, ect ect ect…

How Did I Not Know?

Nearly everyday I light a candle.

A beauty ritual I started just over a year ago.

When I came to meet Ashley, a stunning, young, self made women. And she is a Candle Marker.

Owner of The Candlewyck Cottage

https://jerseygypsypeddler.wordpress.com/2015/06/18/the-candlewyck-cottage/

But these candles are not what you may think!

These are in fact lotion. Warmed by the light of the wick. Heaven on your hands, and feet.

I must admit. I am addicted.

11650759_10207215718375053_2126800562_n

Here’s how it goes for me…

Light Candle before shower. Blow out candle after shower. After drying off, indulge in this soft as butter, silky and sweet, warm lotion. There is NO greasy after feel, and I dress before or after using it. The scent is light and clean. Jersey Girl here is my 1st favorite as I just love the Pineapple Mix scent to it.

Each candle is hand poured by Ashley, in small batches, combining 100% cosmetic grade soy wax, body safe fragrance/essential oils & NOW infused with organic coconut oil & a touch a vitamin E oil!!

One “dip” & you will be in love!  These candles are designed to soften hands, elbows & heels! But I use it everywhere!

This is heaven sent in the winter.

Warm lotion? I mean come on! Dry winter skin? Gone!

I’m a barefoot girl myself (year round), this makes for rough feet, or at least it did before I started to treat myself to this process.

So again…how did I not know about these? And if you didn’t either and

your looking for a new way to pamper yourself, or an amazing gift, or you are a shop owner that would love to carry these (yup she’s a wholesale supplier as well). Reach out to Ashley at the Candlewyck Cottage. She will ship…

Home Sweet Home

There is a bird nesting in my Fuchsia.

And why wouldn’t this bird want to nest here? This is a beautiful full plant, a Mothers Day Gift from my kids, hung lovingly on my front porch. Guarded from the wind and rain, hung up high, only morning sun, this is prime real-estate for a little bird!

I provide food and bath just below in my flower beds.

11651279_10207197202872177_1944720139_n

But even with all this…

this bird flies just off to a near by tree and gives me shit, loudly.

All because I’ve come out to water this plant. I must water it! It wont be the home sweet home for this bird if it dies. All that lush growth will be gone, the nest will dry up and blow away.

And I like a loon, stand there saying apologies and explaining myself to this bird as I water, this and my 2 other plants on my porch around my table and chairs.

It has become increasingly difficult to water this plant as the nest seems to be growing in size, and the water I pour oh so slowly and carefully into this hanging planter doesn’t seem to be able to get through much anymore.

I find myself wondering what shall I do if babies come, I cant water this plant than! They could get wet and cold, and mama will fly off and yell at me, and sadly the plant will die. And so their home will not be as it is now.

This is the craziness that goes on in my mind. I find this stresses me more than not being able to pay my electric bill.

Randomness? I suppose it is. My life? Oh yes.

I haven’t a clue what kind of bird this is, its much to small and fast, a blur of brown is all I’ve seen.

But I find joy in this. And I’m happy this bird had chosen to live on my porch.

maybe we’ll be friends one day.

Today Ill but out blueberries.
